Lucy Charles (MSc. MLitt. MA.) is the Founder of Galerie Betty Charles and working alongside her is Director and husband, Oliver. Between them, Lucy & Oliver have over sixty years of experience working in the art world and art law related services. We enjoy working with both seasoned collectors and those looking to begin their collecting journey. We know that beginning to collect art can be a daunting process and we aim to give you the confidence and knowledge to enjoy putting your own unique collection together.

The gallery presents exciting works from across Europe and here in Britain. We are Specialists in Modern Art (1860-1960).  We particularly like to rediscover and bring artworks back into the public consciousness which may have been unfortunately overlooked. These works were previously warmly received and collected. The gallery also represents Contemporary artists whose work we respect and admire as “Future-Masters” Our works are carefully picked to work in a curated way together throughout the gallery.

We believe that collectors of art don’t “consume” works but they experience it.  We do not sell our works online but we will occasionally showcase selected works here on our website.  We host a varied exhibition calendar throughout the year here in the Gallery and we exhibit widely at major Art Fairs across the United Kingdom and Europe. We also host regular exhibitions in London at our unique viewing gallery, by invitation. So there is plenty of opportunity for you to meet with us and engage with our wonderful works!
